Are you trying to think of fun trips you can do this year? The truth is you don’t have travel overseas in order to have a wonderful vacation. While if you have the leave and the budget, an overseas adventure is always great, why not take a domestic flight, rent a car and visit another part of your own country? A road trip is a great way to explore another side of your own country. If money is particularly tight you can ever take a road trip over a long weekend somewhere near you. If you’re thinking about taking a road trip this year – whether it’s near or far – here are 3 tips for a fun road trip.
1. A Great Sound Track
Having some good beats in your car will honestly make all the difference so spend at least an hour curating the perfect road track soundtrack. If you don’t have any spare time you can totally cheat. All you have to do a search for some great soundtracks in Spotify and you’ll be surprised to find that there are a ton of great road trip soundtracks all ready to go! Some favourites are: The Spice Girls, anything from the 80s and the Beatles.
2. Take the Scenic Route
This will work a lot better if you’re not in a rush, so it’s best to leave as early as possible so you have ample time and are not rushing along the way. If there’s a more scenic route, take it. Enjoy little stops along the way, bathroom breaks, stops to take photos, to enjoy the gift shops and to break up the longer journies. Obviously this will depend so much on where you’re going, but generally routes along the coast tend to be a lot slower, but much more beautiful. So if you can, take them on the way there and then on the way home, go the faster route because you’ll be more tired and just ready to be home!
3. Lively Conversation
It can be tempting to stare at your phone during a road trip, particularly if you’re not the driver. Be mindful that this is some special time with your friends and family members you’ll never be able to get back so take this time to enjoy talking with your loved ones. Ask questions about what’s going on in their lives, but ask deeper questions too, like their hopes and dreams for the year, what their fears are. Dive deeper and use this special time together to really get to know them.
If you’re traveling overseas, don’t forget to check out cheap travel insurance. Use these three tips to make sure your next road trip is really fun!
