It can be difficult to hold down a busy job, keep a household running and still have enough energy to look good, but paying attention to how you look at work is important. Looking good helps you to project a confident, professional image, which can make all the difference to how others perceive you and how you feel about yourself and your abilities.
Looking good to feel good
To look good, you need to make sure your basics are good and this means your skin. Tired, dull and dry skin will never provide a good foundation for makeup, so take care of it by using a cleanser and moisturizer suitable for your skin type, and remember to change your products with the seasons. However, it is not only what you put onto your skin that matters. You need to work it from the inside by keeping hydrated, so remember to drink plenty of water throughout your day. And before going to sleep make sure to use night cream to keep your skin moisturized and your face will feel supple and well hydrated in the morning.
When it comes to makeup, you want to keep it subtle yet impactful. A fairly neutral eyeshadow will work well for most eyes, accented with a black or brown mascara. Choose a pink or red for your lips and a soft peach or apricot blush for your cheeks. Finish your look with perfectly manicured nails, either French polished or with a colored polish.
If you wear glasses, you can change up your appearance by having several pairs in different style frames and matching them to your outfits. If you are prone to mislaying your glasses or simply do not like to wear them, then of course, you can opt for contact lenses if you are a suitable candidate for them – not everyone is! If you find you cannot wear contact lenses, because you have dry eyes, for instance, then an alternative is to have laser eye surgery, which corrects your vision so there is no need to wear glasses or lenses. This is a great choice for people who have to wear headsets at work.
Moving on to what you choose to wear at the office. It is important to dress appropriately for work if you want to be taken seriously. This does not mean you cannot be feminine at work; it just means that your clothing should be formal rather than fun. Skirt suits are always a good staple wardrobe item, because these can be dressed up if you choose and accessorized with jewelry or scarves, for example. Invest in some good quality shirts and blouses, as these will not only look good, but last a long while and can be used to mix and match outfits. When it comes to shoes, think carefully about whether you are going to be on your feet all day. If so, heels are probably not a good choice. Instead, opt for flat ballerina pumps, which are practical but still pretty.
Create a good impression and feel your best by dressing in a professional manner that still makes you feel attractive and maybe even turns a few heads.
