Keeping the skin healthy

April 20, 2016, In: Health & Fitness

With spring officially here, it won’t be long until the warmer months arrive and we’re ditching our knitwear for shorts and t-shirts. However, before we can show off our bodies again, we’ll need to do some pre-summer preparation. Here are the essential items you’ll need to ensure you’re beach ready this year:

If your legs have been trapped under long trousers and thick tights, you can be forgiven for falling behind with your shaving habits. However, now that our perfect pins are on display, they need to be just that — perfect.

Invest in a razor that has a moisturising film to protect your skin with each glide of the razor. Remember to apply a thick moisturising lotion afterwards to help repair the skin.

Moisturising cream

Rough, dry and flaky skin is a no-go if you’re going to be flashing some flesh this summer. Moisturiser will be your new best fried this season but, rather than scrimping on a less-effective budget option, you should spend a little more on a hydrating cream.

A great choice is the Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream, available from Pure Beauty.  Created for normal to dry skin, the cream has rich emollients to help protect your skin from dehydration and pollution.

Fake tan

We all crave that sun-kissed glow that only summer can bring. Thankfully, fake tan is one option if you’re particularly pale this season. Developing tans are a great option if you’ve got a little more time on your hands, while instant options are perfect if you need to get your glow quick.

Always use a fake tan applicator mitt to ensure smooth, even coverage. If you are applying it to your face, apply a small amount of Vaseline to your hairline and eyebrows to avoid any clogging around the hair follicles.
