Are you planning to travel for the Christmas holidays? Maybe you’ve got a holiday planned in the new year. Whatever your reason for taking a long car trip, it’s important to be prepared to make it as fun as possible. I personally love traveling in a car as you can take more things, stop wherever you want, don’t have to abide by anyone else’s schedule and can play karaoke with your friends along the way. If you’re in the midst of planning a road trip, here are some tips you’re going to want to keep in mind:
1. Car Safety
I’m a big believer in safety first because it’s simply not worth risking your life for something that could have been prevented. Make sure you have a #CarSafetyChecklist that you look over every time you’re about to head off for a long journey. My top things to check include checking the oil level and getting an oil change if I can’t remember the last time I had that done. If the battery’s inconsistent, it could be worth investing in a new one from www.kwik-fit.com because there’s almost nothing worse than your battery dying when you’re in the middle of nowhere. I always check my tires too; to see how much tread they have, to check the air pressure and to keep an eye on any punctures or concerns. These small checks help me have peace of mind before I set off.
Often you’ll drive through cute towns lined with gorgeous little cafes and charming restaurants, however, sometimes you’ll drive for what seems like hours and hours without passing anywhere decent to eat or drink. Snacks on the road tend to also be very high in carbohydrates with little to no nutritional value. As such I prefer to go to a supermarket before I leave to pick up some decent snacks like fruit, nuts, snack bars and even popcorn! If it’s a long trip and you’re worried you may get hungry, grab some beef jerky it’s high and protein and will keep you satisfied for quite some time.
3. A Great Playlist
While road trips are extremely fun, especially if you’re with a bunch of people where the conversation flows easily, there’s a pretty good chance after some time you’ll bore a little. A good soundtrack is an essential part of any road trip and Spotify has made it easy. You can simply search for a road trip playlist and chances are you’ll find one you love. If you have Spotify premium, I suggest downloading the playlist so you can listen to it even if you don’t have cell phone coverage where you’re going.
